BUX-MONT LEGION PLAYOFFS: Doylestown holds off Hatfield-Towamecin in 8; Quakertown scores 10 in 6th to beat Plumstead

Doylestown 5, Hatfield-Towamencin 4 (8 innings) >> Hatfield-Towamencin rallied from a 3-0 deficit by scoring three times in the bottom of the seventh inning - Seth Price tying the game with a two-out, two-RBI triple. But in the top of the eighth, Kellen O'Connor's two-out, two-RBI double put fifth-seeded Doylestown back in front and it held on to edge the No. 4 Titans in Friday's Bux-Mont American Legion playoff contest.

Doylestown advances to visit top-seeded Quakertown 7 p.m. Saturday. Hatfield-Towamencin hosts No. 8 Plumstead in an elimination game 8 a.m. Saturday at Butch Clemens Field.

Bobby Seaner was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Doylestown while Chris Katsikis went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

H-T's Price finished 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

Doylestown took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Seaner RBI sacrifice fly then extended its advantage to 3-0 in the fifth thanks to Seaner's RBI double and an Ernie Sanchez RBI sac fly.

In the bottom of the seventh, Will O'Keefe's RBI double made it 3-1. With one out, Duke Horgan reached on an error. After a strikeout, Price connected on a triple to left, scoring both O'Keefe and Horgan to knot things 3-3. The next batter, however, grounded out to the pitcher, sending the contest to extra innings.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, Noah Gerstein and Mike Scafidi drew back-to-back walks. O'Connor followed with a two-run double to put Doylestown up 5-3 before he was thrown out trying to reach third.

Rylan Weed led off the bottom of the eighth with a single but was forced out at second on Tyler Carr's fielder's choice. But a Henry Weir single then O'Keefe's walk loaded the bases for H-T with one out.

A wild pitch allowed Carr to score but Seaner got a strikeout then a groundout to preserve the victory.

Seaner recorded the win pitching 1 1/3 innings. He allowed one run - unearned - on two hits, one walk and one strikeout. Doylestown starter Scafidi went 6 2/3 innings, giving up three runs - one earned - on six hits with four walks, one hit batter and eight strikeouts.

Carr took the loss for H-T, allowing two runs - both earned - on two hits and two walks in one inning. Starter Weed threw seven innings and gave up three runs - all earned - on five hits, walked two and struck out six.

Quakertown 13, Plumstead 3 (6 innings) >> The game was tied 3-3 before No. 1 seed Quakertown sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth, eight collecting hits - two each from William Bowen and CJ Peacher - as the Blue Jays erupted for 10 runs in the frame to beat No. 8 Plumstead.

Peacher finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Cole Reich was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored while Bowen went 2-for-2 with a double. Brandon Labs hit a triple and scored three runs.

Bowen led off Qtown's half of the sixth with a double then scored to make it 4-3 Blue Jays on Peacher's RBI double. Peacher stole third then came home on a wild pitch. After a Labs walk, Reich's RBI triple then Gerry Stanziola's RBI double put Quakertown up four. Stanziola later scored on an error to make it 8-3.

With two outs, Max Drews collected an RBI single. After a Bowen single, a Peacher RBI single extended the lead to 10-3. Labs was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Anderson Everitt, who made it 12-3 with a two-RBI single. Alex Vazquez-Solis followed with a walk-off RBI single.

Plumstead took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on Nathan Plebani's two-out, two-RBI single.

Quakertown answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Reich RBI sacrifice fly and a Peyton Trappler RBI single.

In the fourth, Plumstead went back ahead 3-2 when Jackson Butler hit a two-out RBI single. The Blue Jays, however, pulled even again in the fifth on Justin Hankinson's RBI groundout.

Butler went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Perkiomen vs. Chal-Brit suspended >> Friday's game between No. 2 Perkiomen and No. 7 Chal-Brit was suspended in the top of the seventh. The winner faces No. 3 Nor-Gwyn with the loser taking on No. 6 Pennridge in an elimination game.
