Peterson deals way to help Millersville set school record

Former State College athlete Kyle Peterson played a key role in a historic win for the Millersville baseball team.

Peterson, a freshman pitcher, started against Post and went three innings to pick up a 5-0 win. The victory, Millersville’s 14th in a row, tied the school record for the longest winning streak. Peterson struck out the first four batters he faced before running into trouble in the third inning. He got out of a bases-loaded jam by getting the final out with a pop fly. He had six strikeouts.

He has worked 7 innings, allowing four hits, no runs and three walks. He has nine strikeouts.

Millersville is now 15-1.


Scott Bosak (State College, Belmont Abbey) went 0-2 at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He was beaten 6-4 by Jordan Rinken of Upper Iowa and fell to Chase White of Nebraska-Kearney 3-1 in sudden victory to finish his season with a 22-9 record.


Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) is averaging 7.3 points per game with 40 rebounds, 34 assists, a block and 10 steals. Stony Brook (26-6) beat Vermont on Saturday to earn its first America East tournament title and NCAA tournament berth, and will face Kentucky on Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Taylor Allison (State College, St. Francis) finished her season with a 1.1 scoring average, 25 rebounds, 15 assists and 10 steals. St. Francis finished 14-17 after losing to Sacred Heart 92-71 in the Northeast Conference semifinals.


Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) has a .317 batting average with 19 runs scored, 19 hits, three doubles, a triple and seven RBIs. He is 5 for 6 in stolen base attempts. The Hokies are 10-6.

Anthony Montresor (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .111 with a run scored and a single. Altoona is 4-11.

Jared Dailey (State College, PSU-Altoona) is 1-1 with a 13.15 ERA and one save. In 13 innings he has given up 26 hits and 24 runs, 19 earned, while walking 10 and striking out nine.

Parker Watson (Philipsurg-Osceola, Lock Haven) has a 3.93 ERA and a 2-1 record. In 18 1/3 innings he has allowed 26 hits and 11 runs, eight earned, while walking three and striking out 13. Lock Haven is 7-6.

Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) is hitting .404 with 14 runs scored, 19 hits, two doubles, three homers and four RBIs. Shippensburg is 9-9.

Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) is 1-2 with a 4.64 ERA. He has pitched 21 1/3 innings and has allowed 20 hits and 13 runs, 11 earned, while walking seven and striking out 18.

Caleb Pepperday (P-O, Juniata) has pitched eight innings and is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He has given up 10 hits and 11 runs, four earned, while walking six and striking out six. Juniata is 3-8.

Jason Costa (State College, Walters State CC) had a double and a homer in a 7-5 win over Florence Darlington Tech. He has three homers this season. Walters State is 15-8.


Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .476 with seven runs scored, 10 hits, two doubles and an RBI while stealing six bases in six tries. Altoona is 6-4.

Allison Simpson (Bald Eagle Area, PSU-Altoona) has a .300 average with a run scored, six hits, a triple and four RBIs.

Ashley Struble (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .231 with two runs scored, six hits, a double and four RBIs. She is also 1-0 with a 1.85 ERA and one save. In 11 1/3 innings she has allowed 15 hits and four runs, three earned, while waking five and striking out five.

Kate Burge (P-O, PSU-Altoona) is 3-3 with a 1.38 ERA in the circle. In 43 2/3 innings she has allowed 38 hits and 12 runs, eight earned, walked 12 and struck out 33.

Haley Giedroc (BEA, PSU-Altoona) has started all 10 games at shortstop and is hitting .133 with five runs scored, four hits and three RBIs. She is 4 for 4 in stolen base attempts.

Chelsey Poorman (BEA, Lycoming) is hitting .294 with five runs scored, five hits, a double and two RBIs. Lycoming is off to an 8-1 start.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) has a batting average of .080 with two runs scored, two hits and three RBIs. CCSU is 6-6.

Vanessa Cooper (Bellefonte, Massachusetts-Lowell) is hitting .077 with one hit. Lowell is 4-11.

Christina Tressler (Bellefonte, Clarion) is second on the team with a .414 average. She has scored six runs and has 12 hits including three doubles and a homer, and also has five RBIs. Clarion is 2-8.

Mackenzie Burge (P-O, St. Francis) is hitting .258 with four runs scored, eight hits, two doubles and four RBIs. St. Francis is 11-12.

Allie Baney (State College, Juniata) is hitting .300 with three runs scored, six hits, a double, a homer and two RBIs. Juniata is 4-4.

Track & field

Kyle Adams (State College, Bucknell) ran on the 4x800-meter relay team that placed eighth in the IC4A Indoor Championships. 


Olivia Stahl (State College, Savannah College of Art & Design) has 10 goals and six assists. SCAD is 5-0 and ranked No. 1 in NAIA.

Brady Frank (State College, Widener) has four goals and three assists. Widener is 1-3.
