Penns Valley graduate Clarissa Keller is the second-leading hitter on the Penn State Altoona softball team.

Keller is hitting .462 with nine runs scored, 12 hits, two doubles and two RBIs. She is also 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.

PSU Altoona is off to a 7-5 start.


Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) has a .329 average with 21 runs, 25 hits, four doubles, a triple and 11 RBIs. He has also stolen five bases in seven tries. The Hokies are 10-11.

Anthony Montresor (Penns Valley, PSU Altoona) is hitting .111. PSU Altoona is 4-11.

Jared Dailey (State College, PSU Altoona) is 1-1 with a 13.15 ERA and one save. In 13 innings, he has given up 26 hits and 24 runs, 19 earned, while walking 10 and striking out nine.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg-Osceola, Lock Haven) is 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA. In 20 1/3 innings he has allowed 27 hits and 11 runs, eight earned, while walking three and striking out 17. Lock Haven is 9-6.

Chelsey Poorman (Bald Eagle Area, Lycoming) is hitting .333 with nine runs scored, eight hits, two doubles, a triple and four RBIs. Lycoming is 9-4.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) has an .061 average with three runs scored, two hits and three RBIs. Central Connecticut is 6-11.

Vanessa Cooper (Bellefonte, UMass Lowell) has a .130 average with three hits, all singles. Lowell is 4-19.

Christina Tressler (Bellefonte, Clarion) is hitting .361, second on the team, with six runs scored, 13 hits, three doubles, a homer and six RBIs. Clarion is 2-11.

Mackenzie Burge (Philipsburg-Osceola, St. Francis) has a .242 average with six runs scored, eight hits, two doubles and four RBIs. St. Francis is 15-12.

Allie Baney (State College, Juniata) is hitting .344 with seven runs scored, 111 hits, two doubles, a triple and three RBIs. She also has five stolen bases. Juniata is 6-6.

Track and field

John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) was fourth in the 5,000 in 16:04.39 at the Juniata Invitational.

Matt Fuller (Penns Valley, Edinboro) took third in the 10,000 at the 49er Classic at UNC-Charlotte with a time of 33:10.32.

Carolyn Darr (Penns Valley, Delaware) was fifth in the 400 in 58.70 at the Virginia Commonwealth Ram Invitational, which Delaware won.

Kylie Orndorff (Penns Valley, Juniata) was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 30-42 meters, sixth in the shot put with a 9.60 effort and seven in the discus with a throw of 30.65 meters at the Juniata Invitational.

Eric Heatwole (State College, Bloomsburg) took fifth in the 1,500 at the Jack Toms Invitational at Lynchburg, Va., with a time of 4:17.31.


Brian Frank (State College, Widener) has four goals and three assists. Widener is 1-4.


Brian Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) finished with a 7.3 scoring average, 40 rebounds, 34 assists, a block and 10 steals. Stony Brook fell to Kentucky 85-57 in the first round of the NCAA tournament to finish with a 26-6 record.
