Penn State women’s lacrosse beats Winthrop in first round of NCAA tournament

Penn State women’s lacrosse walloped Winthrop 16-6 in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Junior Steph Lazo and freshman Madison Carter each scored four goals in the effort, while senior Madison Cyr and sophomore Katie O’Donnell scored three apiece. The team went on a 7-0 second-half run to pull away from Winthrop for good.

Penn State (12-6) will face host and No. 2 seed Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m.
