State College downs Clearfield
The State College American Legion baseball team tallied three runs in the top of the first inning and later added to its advantage, shutting out Clearfield 6-0 on Tuesday.
Zach Ripka opened the scoring with an RBI single, and Tucker Treibold made it 3-0 in the first with a two-run single.
Josh Gardner also had a two-run single in the fourth inning, while Mathew Tomczuk led State College at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three singles and a double.
On the hill, it was Ripka who earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out three in five innings of work.
State College (6-1) faces Mifflin County on Wednesday.
