State College tops Mifflin County in American Legion baseball

State College scored four runs in the first inning en route to a 6-3 win over Mifflin County in American Legion play Wednesday.

Zach Ripka and Evan Smith each had two-run singles in the first inning for State College (7-1). Justin Vescio’s RBI single in the third and Josh Gardner’s sacrifice fly in the sixth accounted for State College’s other two runs.

Ripka finished 3 for 4 with a double to lead State College. Matthew Tomczuk and Vescio each finished with two hits.

Spencer Randolph earned the win.
