Philipsburg hands Clarence Mounties first County League loss of season

Pirates hand Mounties 1st loss of season

The Clarence Mounties suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday, falling 5-4 to the Spike Island Pirates of Philipsburg.

The Mounties led 3-1 heading to the seventh, but doubles from Jesse Williams and Nate Kerlin were followed by RBI singles for Derek Shaw and Logan Williamson in a four-run frame.

A John Schall solo home run cut the margin back to one, and the Mounties got runners on second and third with two out, but a pop-up ended the contest.

Matt McCamley earned the win in relief of Matt Curtis, while Justin Taylor was tagged with the loss in relief of starter Ryan MacNamara.
