Brett Gravatt finished fourth in both the 100- and 400-meter dashes for wheelchairs at the U.S. Paralympic Trials on Friday.
The Penn State junior was timed in 16.93 seconds in the 100, his best time in the event. He was also clocked in a personal-best 55.57 in the 400, slicing five seconds off his previous best time.
The meet is being held at the Irwin Belk Complex at Johnson C. Smith University.
Also, Nick Adcock posted a time of 15.17 in preliminaries in the 100 but didn’t make the finals in a different wheelchair class.
In the pool, Sean Brame was fourth in the finals of the 50-meter freestyle in 43.02 seconds.
The U.S. Paralympic Trials run through Saturday, with Gravatt returning to compete in the 400 and 1,500 finals, while Max Rohn and Erik Doty will compete in the discus.
The 40-man, 20-woman U.S. team will be chosen Sunday.
