Philipsburg tops Lemont in County League play

Philipsburg scored four runs in the sixth inning en route to a 4-1 win over Lemont on Tuesday.

Brandon Quay’s two-run single highlighted the Pirates’ four-run sixth. Josh Potter struck out eight and pitched a complete game to earn the win.

Cameron Aungst’s RBI single in the second inning accounted for the Ducks’ lone run.

Derek Van Horn had two hits to pace Lemont (3-15).

The Pirates (13-5) open postseason play Sunday.
