Spring Mills edges Pleasant Gap to take series
Spring Mills squeaked by Pleasant Gap in a competitive Game 3 of a first-round series in the Centre County Baseball League on Thursday night.
The Braves beat the Peppers 2-1 amid reports of “heated banter” between the teams.
Pleasant Gap took an early lead in the first inning, plating a runner on a bases-loaded walk from Spring Mills pitcher Cody Luse.
Luse gave up just two hits throughout the game to ultimately earn the win, however, and was backed by a two-run fourth inning from his offense.
The Braves will advance to the semifinal round after a four-season drought, and will face the Clarence Mounties (who earned a first-round bye) on Sunday at 2 p.m. The series will be best-of-five.
