Philipsburg keeps County League hopes alive

Logan Williamson hit a walk-off RBI single, and Philipsburg’s Spike Island Pirates staved off elimination with a 4-3 win over the Howard Hawks on Thursday night.

Howard leads the semifinal series 2-1.

With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Travis Arnold singled up the middle, Brandon Quay was hit by a pitch, and both runners advanced on a passed ball.

Williamson singled into right field to score Arnold and give the Pirates a much-needed win.

Josh Potter also had a big day for the Pirates. On the hill, he pitched a complete game, striking out five, and at the plate he had a two-run home run.

Philipsburg will try to further extend the series at Howard on Sunday.
