Keystone Little League team nears World Series berth
The Keystone Little League team moved one win away from a spot in Williamsport.
The team from Beech Creek knocked off Capitol City Little League, of Washington, D.C., 10-3 in a Mid-Atlantic Regional elimination game at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Center.
Keystone, which is 4-1 in regional play, will meet Maine-Endwell (3-0), of central New York, in the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday. ESPN2 is scheduled to show the game.
Cayde McCloskey and Aidan Major collected three hits each to pace Keystone, which racked up 13 hits. Cy Probst struck out six in the complete-game win, giving up seven hits.
The team is seeking to follow the thrilling footsteps of the 2011 Keystone team — many of those team members were juniors and seniors this year at Central Mountain — which advanced to the Little League World Series and packed Lamade Stadium.
