State College grad Brandon Raquet named Freshman All-American for William & Mary
William & Mary’s Brandon Raquet — a Boalsburg native and State College graduate — learned earlier this week that he earned a spot on Collegiate Baseball’s Freshmen All-America Team.
Raquet was one of 24 outfielders named to the squad.
The rookie finished as a second-team Colonial selection and turned in a solid first season. He ended the year hitting .337 (60 for 178), smacked 25 RBIs and owned an on-base percentage of .433 and a slugging percentage of .506.
He also led the team in triples (4) and stolen bases (6), while also turning in three homers and 13 doubles.
Raquet earned a reputation early on as a clutch hitter. More than half of his RBIs — 13 of 25 — came with two outs. In his first-ever postseason game last month, he even went 3 of 5 with three extra-base hits and three RBIs.
In high school, Raquet was a two-time MVP for the Little Lions and earned Mid Penn first-team honors as a senior. He hit .368 for his high school career and was an honor roll student all four years at State College.
