Penn State swimming team closes fall schedule at OSU Invitational
Shane Ryan set a meet record as the Penn State swimming team completed its fall schedule at the Ohio State Fall Invitational on Sunday.
Ryan set the record in the 100 freestyle, winning with a time of 42.49 seconds. It was his third win during the three-day meet.
The Penn State men’s team finished fourth with 488.5 points behind first-place Ohio State (1,233), Utah (746.5) and Kentucky (629.5). The women’s team took eighth in the 10-team field with 198.5 points. The Stanford women’s team finished first with a score of 1,080.
Ryan, Matt Stasiunas, Tomer Zamir and J.P. Cervone took fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:57.79.
Liam Veregin took seventh in the men’s 200 backstroke with a time of 1:47.06.
Casey Francis finished eighth in the women’s 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:28.16.
The Nittany Lions return to action Jan. 13-14 when they host Yale and Rutgers.
