Penn State women’s golf in 5th after tourney’s first round

The Penn State women’s golf team found itself in fifth place — out of 15 teams — following the first round Monday at the Hurricane Invitational.

The Nittany Lions shot a collective 3-over 291, five shots behind Louisville’s 3-under 286.

Freshman Maddy Herr paced Penn State with four birides an an even-par 72. She is tied for 12th individually.

The second round of the Hurricane Invitational tees off between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
