Penn State’s Emily Frederick and Max Rohn won their events Friday night at the U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.
Frederick won the shot put with a throw of 17 feet, 5 3/4 inches. Rohn won the javelin at 149-6 1/4.
Also, Brett Gravatt finished second in the 200-meter wheelchair race in 28.02 seconds. Michele Wheeler hit a personal-best 33.68 in the 200 prelims and was fifth in the finals in 35.58.
More events are scheduled for Rohn, Wheeler and Gravatt on Saturday. Competitors will find out Sunday if they will be a part of Team USA for the World Championships or the junior championships.
