Former Penn State All-Americans Micha Hancock and Megan Courtney helped the U.S. Women’s National team to a gold medal for the fifth time in the Pan American Cup in Lima, Peru.

The U.S. beat the Dominican Republic on Sunday 25-16, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23 to claim gold.

Hancock posted a kill and an ace in the victory, and guided the offense to a .250 hitting night with her 38 running sets. Hancock finished the tournament with 30 aces over seven matches, well short of the record 50 she served up in last year’s tournament. She also was named most valuable player of the tournament along with best server and best setter.

On Saturday night, in a 3-0 semifinal sweep of Peru, Hancock had three aces, two kills and a block.
