The Penn State baseball team will host Lock Haven in a fall exhibition game at 6 p.m. Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Admission is free.

The Nittany Lions are coming off an 18-37 season (4-19 Big Ten) and are welcoming 13 new additions to join a returning group of 21. Among the new players are Penn State wrestler Matt McCutcheon, who’s listed as a catcher, and freshman Mason Mellott — who graduated from State College.

Mellott was named the CDT Athlete of the Spring after striking out 78 and earning a 2.00 ERA as a senior.

“Mason is a hard working young man who absolutely relishes the opportunity to compete,” Penn State coach Rob Cooper said in a written statement. “He is a State College native who is committed to helping Penn State baseball win at the highest level. We are extremely excited about his future as a Nittany Lion.”

The regular season starts in February.
