Women’s basketball
Lady Lions cruise past Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. Behind 21 points from Amari Carter and 20 from Jaida Travascio-Green, the Lady Lions made quick work of Wisconsin on Sunday in a 69-62 win at the Kohl Center.
The Penn State women’s basketball team never trailed in the game. The Badgers (7-12, 0-6 Big Ten) remain winless in conference play.
The score was tied 52-52 with seven minutes left in regulation, but the Lady Lions responded with a 10-0 run.
Travascio-Green hit six of Penn State’s 12 3-pointers. And PSU’s Siyeh Frazier added 12 total points, while Teniya Page had 11.
Penn State (11-8, 2-4) will next take on Rutgers at home at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Women’s tennis
PSU slips past Navy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. The Pen State women’s tennis team won four singles matches Sunday to edge out Navy 4-3.
Two matches went to three sets. No. 1 singles player Gabby O’Gorman beat Navy’s Amanda Keller 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, while No. 6 Hanna Wikberg won 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Penn State’s Samantha Smith and Bennett Dunn won in straight sets.
The Nittany Lions went 1-2 in their doubles matches. They’ll next take on Towson at home Jan. 26.
