Joseph named co-Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. Penn State sophomore Vincenzo Joseph shared Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors on Tuesday with Ohio State’s Nathan Tomasello.

Joseph, ranked No. 1 at 165 pounds, finished another undefeated weekend with a major decision over Michigan All-American Logan Massa and a fall against Michigan State’s Austin Hiles. Joseph is now 11-0 on the season.

Joseph and the Nittany Lions will next take on Purdue at 7 p.m. Friday.

PSU sweeps weekly Big Ten honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. Penn State swept the conference’s first weekly awards of the season Tuesday, as Sam Zakutney was named the Gymnast of the Week and Brennan Pantazis was the Freshman of the Week.

Zakutney posted an all-around total of 81.350 at the Army West Point Open, a score that was the second-highest in the nation. Pantazis had three top-10 finishes and ranked seven in the country with an all-around score of 78.800.

Tsang shares weekly honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. Penn State senior Briannah Tsang was named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week with Michigan’s Paige Zaziski, after finishing first in the all-around event (39.425) in the dual meet against Nebraska.

She was first on the floor (9.900), tied for first on the bars (9.900), tied for fourth on beam (9.800) and tied for fifth on vault (9.825).
