Penn State alumnus, Philadelphia police officer hits halfcourt shot at Sixers game
Penn State alumnus Brian Patterson made the shot of his life.
Patterson, who graduated from Penn State in 2012, was given an opportunity to attempt a halfcourt shot at Wednesday’s Sixers game against the Bulls at the Wells Fargo Center. He drained it, winning the entire arena free Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits.
“I kind of just started jumping around,” Patterson told the Sixers. “I guess it was just tunnel vision. I heard the crowd. I felt like the shot was short, but it ended up going in. I don’t know. I just started jumping around and made sure I looked at the Sixers bench, made sure they saw it.”
Patterson, a Sixers season ticket holder, has been a Philadelphia police officer since 2013, serving the city’s 15th district.
The Penn State alum — who was recently medically cleared to return to work following an on-the-job back injury — said he was “looking forward” to hearing from his colleagues about the made shot.
Patterson is also looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday.
“Let’s go Eagles,” Patterson said in a final statement to the Sixers. “Beat the Pats.”
