Hotel rooms for Penn State’s Winter Sports Weekend remain, but at steep markups
State College-area hotels are selling out and hiking prices ahead of Penn State’s Winter Sports Weekend, which features 15 athletic events including the first outdoor hockey games at Beaver Stadium.
A handful of lodging options remain, but at sharply higher prices than usual.
The Centre Daily Times has rounded up a list of last-minute places to stay during the Winter Sports Weekend. Prices are for a one-room, Friday to Sunday stay booked through each hotel’s website, and only include rooms with windows.

Super 8 State College: $314 per night. The average cost in February is $161.88 per night.
Days Inn Penn State: $399 per night. The average cost in February is $241.50 per night.
Rodeway Inn State College: $273 per night. The average cost in February is $135.25 per night.
EconoLodge Bellefonte: $227 per night. The average cost in February is $110.50 per night.

Toftrees Golf Resort: $499 per night. The average cost in February is $207, though the average excludes Feb. 20-22, when there is no availability for a queen bed.
