PIAA keeps Penn State as host for 5 spring sports championships through 2029-2030

The PIAA announced its spring championships locations through the end of the decade this week — including keeping five championships at Penn State for the next four years.

The university will continue hosting the boys volleyball, boys and girls lacrosse, softball and baseball championships after the PIAA’s board of directors approved host sites through the 2029-2030 academic year. Each event will be held in Penn State’s venues for each sport — volleyball in Rec Hall, lacrosse in Panzer Stadium, baseball at Medlar Field and softball at Beard Field.

The announcement included two other venues continuing to host events, with track and field at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium and the Hershey Racquet Club hosting the boys tennis championships.

“The PIAA is proud to continue its longstanding relationships with Shippensburg University, Penn State University and the Hershey Racquet,” PIAA Executive Director Mark E. Byers said in a press release from the PIAA. “These outstanding institutions have consistently demonstrated a commitment to providing first-class championship venues and an exceptional experience for our student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans as we continue to celebrate the very best of high school athletics in Pennsylvania.”

Baseball and softball will continue to be the final sporting events in the scholastic year, with volleyball and lacrosse taking place the weekend prior.

In 2027, that will see the lacrosse and volleyball championships happen on June 12 with baseball and softball happening on June 17 and 18.
