Gondak earns Penn State cross country coaching honors
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its regional awards Tuesday, and Penn State’s John Gondak was tabbed as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year. Award winners were voted on by USTFCCCA member coaches.
Gondak has received five Mid-Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year awards during his time at Penn State.
In his second season as head coach, Gondak led his team to its first Big Ten title since 2009 and the second in the program’s history. The Nittany Lions then defeated Georgetown in the Mid-Atlantic Regional to qualify for their sixth NCAA Championship in the past seven years.
