PSU’s Masterson earns Big Ten honor

Penn State junior Lexi Masterson was selected as the Big Ten Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

Masterson set a Penn State indoor track and field record in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 6 1/4 inches to win the event at the Penn State Relays last Saturday. It is the second-best mark in the country this season.

The previous program record (13-5 1/2) was set by Sarah Dougherty in 2004.

Penn State hosts the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday.
