PSU’s Kidder sets NCAA record in indoor track and field

Brannon Kidder set an NCAA record in the 1,000-meter run at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday.

In his first time running the race at the indoor track and field meet, Kidder ran a 2:18.26 for the record.

Tori Gerlach, who also ran the 1,000-meter for the first time, finishing in 2:43.15 — good for the second-best time in the country this year and a school record.

Xavier Smith broke his 60-meter school record, which he set last week, with a time of 6.69.

Penn State will return to action Jan. 29-30 for the Penn State National.
