Penn State boasting leading times on track

Penn State boasts some of the best Big Ten, NCAA, U.S. and international marks just two weeks into the indoor season, according to Track & Field Results Reporting System and trackandfieldnews.com.

The Nittany Lions have the fastest men’s and women’s 4x800-meter relays in the world.

The women’s team of Julie Kocjancic, Elizabeth Chikotas, Tori Gerlach and Victoria Crawford — a State College graduate — combined to post a time of 8:45.85 during the Penn State Relays on Jan. 9. Meanwhile, the men’s team of Jordan Makins, Bobby Hill, Isaiah Harris and Brannon Kidder notched their world-leading time of 7:25.28 at the same meet.

Kidder also recorded a nation-leading time of 2:18.26 in the 1,000-meter during last week’s Nittany Lion Challenge. The performance set an NCAA record.
