Nittany Lions suffer first loss in men’s gymnastics

Penn State incurred its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Minnesota 432.750-418.500 in the Nittany Lions’ Big Ten opener.

The Golden Gophers won five events and took home five individual titles, as well as the all-around competition title.

Penn State (6-1) posted a season-high on the still rings with a 72.350, and Leroy Clark, Jr. won his third consecutive still rings title of the year. Michael Burn placed second on the high bar, and fellow freshman Chris Sands was runner-up in the still rings.

Dominic DiFulvio, Joshua Smith and Christian McSwain finished with season-high scores on the floor, placing fourth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Penn State hosts Illinois at 4 p.m. Saturday in Rec Hall, with half of the ticket proceeds going to Thon.
