Penn State men’s volleyball rallies past Sacred Heart
Penn State bounced back from dropping the opening set to stop Sacred Heart 3-1 Saturday night.
It was just the fourth match of the season in which the No. 7 Nittany Lions (8-2, 3-0 EIVA) dropped a set in the 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-13 victory.
A balanced offense paced Penn State with 13 kills on .409 hitting for Jalen Penrose and 12 kills each for Chris Nugent and Matt McLaren. Matt Seifert and Kevin Gear each added seven kills. Gear also had five blocks, Royce Clemens picked up eight digs and Taylor Hammond directed the offense to .336 hitting with 48 assists.
The Pioneers hit .248, led by Chris Delucie’s 15 kills. The Nittany Lions led in kills (54-48), digs (27-26) and blocks (9.5-6.5).
Penn State hosts NJIT at Rec Hall on Friday.
