Penn State sits in 6th place at Big Ten Championships

Penn State’s Alyson Ackman finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and contributed to a fourth-place finish in the 200 free relay at the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday.

Going into the third day of competition, the No. 25 Nittany Lions are in sixth place with 271.5 points. Michigan is in first place with 423.5 points.

Ackman finished in 22.59 seconds in the finals of the 50 free. The 200 free relay team of Ackman, Katie Saloky, Haley Sinatro and Kaitlin Jones recorded a season-best time of 1:29.41 to finish fourth.

Penn State’s Katie Rowe turned in a personal-best time of 1:58.06 to tie for sixth in the 200 IM.

The meet continues Friday, starting with preliminaries at 11 a.m. and finals set for 6:30 p.m.
