Big Ten women’s swimming championships continue for Nittany Lions

Penn State remains in sixth place heading into the final day of the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships.

After Friday’s events, the Nittany Lions have 474.5 points, just ahead of seventh-place Wisconsin (462). Michigan sits in first with 891 points, followed by Indiana (845.5), Minnesota (612.5), Ohio State (577) and Purdue (498.5).

Alyson Ackman took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 45.16 seconds, her season-best time. Ackman was part of Penn State’s third-place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:35.18) along with Melissa Rodriguez, Katie Rowe and Niki Price.

Rodriguez finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.76.

The championships finish Saturday. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m.
