Softball beats Jacksonville 9-3

Penn State softball’s pitchers combined for a five-hitter and leadoff hitter Shelby Miller tallied three RBIs in the Nittany Lions’ 9-3 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.

Penn State starter Marlaina Laubach went three innings while surrendering two hits and one run. Christy Von Pusch came on in relief and earned the win, throwing four innings and allowing one run.

After being shutout by Jacksonville starter Victoria Brown on Saturday, the Nittany Lions got to the junior this time around. Penn State put up five hits and five runs (two earned) on Brown in the second inning.

Two of Miller’s RBIs came in that explosive second inning on a single. She also stole home.

Penn State (5-5) travels to Orlando, Fla., next weekend, starting off the trip by playing Yale and Fordham on Saturday.
