Aponte, Sanders on Tewaaraton Award watch list

A pair of Penn State players are being considered for the sport’s top honor.

Penn State teammates Nick Aponte and TJ Sanders have been selected for the Tewaaraton Award watch list, according to a press release Wednesday. They are among 50 players on the list.

Aponte has scored points in 21 straight games. He has two goals and six assists this season. Aponte and Sanders each recorded 13 assists to lead the Nittany Lions last season.

Sanders leads the team with nine goals and is second on the team with 12 points this season. Last year, he scored a team-high 29 goals and paced Penn State with 42 points.

The Nittany Lions (3-0) host Villanova at 1 p.m. Saturday.
