Three Nittany Lions on award watch list

Penn State’s Emi Smith, Jenna Mosketti and Abby Smucker were among 50 players on the Tewaaraton Award watch list released Tuesday night.

Smith was the Big Ten’s Goaltender of the Year last season. The senior has made 14 saves and allowed 10 goals to lead Penn State to a pair of wins to open the season.

Mosketti, a senior midfielder/attack, scored 30 goals last season and finished sixth on the team with 36 points. She also led the team with 83 draw controls and 31 ground balls.

Smucker, a junior midfielder, caused 20 turnovers last season, good for second on the team. The defensive midfielder was named the Big Ten tournament MVP and earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Team. She also scored 10 goals.

The No. 6 Nittany Lions (2-0) play at No. 10 Virginia at noon Saturday.
