South Carolina rolls past Penn State in baseball
Penn State started off its weekend series with No. 15 South Carolina with a 7-1 loss on Friday.
Jim Haley’s first career home run in the top of the ninth inning accounted for the Nittany Lions’ lone run. James Coates had the team’s only other hit.
South Carolina pitcher Clarke Schmidt allowed one hit in seven shutout innings for the win. South Carolina’s John Jones went 4 for 4 with four RBIs.
Penn State (2-3) will face South Carolina again Saturday.
