Nittany Lions fall to UNC Wilmington in baseball

Penn State allowed six runs in the second inning and couldn’t recover in an 11-2 loss to UNC Wilmington on Sunday.

Greg Guers led off the top of the second inning with a home run to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead. The Seahawks responded in the bottom of the inning with six runs. UNC Wilmington’s Nick Feight’s two-run single finished the inning, which started with a walk and included two errors.

Feight went 2 for 3 with four RBIs.

Penn State’s Conlin Hughes led off the eighth inning with a double and scored on a groundout.

Penn State starting pitcher Sal Biasi allowed six runs (zero earned) in two innings to take the loss. Biasi struck out two and walked four.

The Nittany Lions (2-7) finish their series with UNC Wilmington at 4 p.m. Monday.
