Two players earn weekly honors

Sophomore Will Schreiner and freshman Grant Ament earned Big Ten weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday.

In Penn State’s pair of wins, Schreiner averaged 9.5 saves per game, good enough to be recognized as the conference’s Co-Specialist of the Week. It’s Schreiner’s second career honor.

Ament was honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, his second such recognition. Ament had eight total points (five assists, three goals) in the wins over Harvard and Furman.

Ament is now averaging 2.14 assists per game, ranking 14th nationally.

Penn State (5-2) hosts UMass at noon Saturday.
