Ackman leads Penn State at NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Penn State had a pair of top-30 finishes after the second day of the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech on Thursday.

Alyson Ackman had the top individual finish with a time of 22.41 seconds to take 28th in the 50-yard freestyle. Teammate Kaitlin Jones was 54th in the event.

Other Nittany Lion finishers included Casey Francis placing 47th, Katelyn Sowinski taking 68th in the 500 free and Katie Rowe was 37th in the 200 individual medley.

The 400 medley relay team captured 25th in a clocking of 3:36.61 while the Nittany Lions’ 200 free relay team was disqualified.

Penn State is 27th as a team with six points. The meet runs through Saturday.
