Penn State softball (9-13) dropped a pair of games to Hofstra on Saturday, falling 15-8 in the first, a 1 p.m. matchup, and 9-6 in the second.
The two games were part of a three-game series that will finish on Sunday at 1 p.m.
An early lead and a five-run fifth inning powered Hofstra past Penn State in the first game — the former scored 15 runs off just 11 hits throughout. Short stop Michaela Transue drove in six of those runs and scored twice off four hits.
Hofstra had 10 hits in the second game, and Transue drove in two runs while scoring twice.
