Seifert named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Penn State’s Madison Seifert was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Seifert notched two wins, and appeared in four games, as the Nittany Lions posted a 5-0 record last week and earned their 14th win in the last 17 games.

The Wildwood, Mo. native gave up one run with three strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Bucknell, and made three relief appearances against Maryland last weekend, allowing one run over 14 innings, striking out seven and walking four.

The award is the first of Seifert’s career.

Penn State visits Iowa for a three-game series this weekend.
