Penn State part of tight Big Ten women’s golf tournament
Behind an even-par 288 opening round, Penn State is in seventh place, five strokes off the lead, at the Big Ten Championships after Friday’s opening round.
Purdue leads the way at 5-under 283 as 11 of the 14 teams are within nine strokes of the top spot at the 6,221-yard Fort Golf Course
Ariana Coyle Diez is tied for third after her opening-round 3-under 69 of the three-day meet. Wisconsin’s Brooke Ferrell carded a 65 to pace the field. Other Nittany Lions include Lauren Walter (tie-10, 70), Cara Basso (tie-35, 74), Jackie Rogowicz (tie-45, 75), Halley Morell and Grace Chung (tie-61, 77).
