Huntzinger wins Big Ten freshman golfer award

Penn State’s Charles Huntzinger was named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year on Tuesday.

Huntzinger carded seven top-10 finishes, including one win, to become Penn State’s third conference freshman award winner and the first since Kevin Foley in 2007. He also was named second-team All-Big Ten.

Geoff Vartelas picked up the team’s sportsmanship award from the conference.
