Penn State’s Ryan Kerr, Brian Leap and the 4x800-meter relay team earned wins to highlight the track and field team’s performance at the Penn Relays on Saturday at Franklin Field.
Kerr won the men’s javelin with a throw of 228 feet, 8 inches, a season-best mark. Leap finished first in the triple jump, clearing 53-0.
Robby Creese, Jordan Makins, Isaiah Harris and Brannon Kidder recorded the best time in the nation this year to win the college men’s 4x800 relay, finishing in 7:17.37. Kidder was selected as the College Men’s Athlete of the Meet for Relay Events after contributing to the distance medley relay and 4x800 relay teams’ victories.
In the 4x200 relay, Penn State’s Xavier Smith, Dan Chisena, Malik Moffett and Anton Porter set a program record of 1:23.75, good for a fifth-place finish Saturday.
Chisom Ifedi took second in the men’s high jump (6-11 1/2).
Penn State hosts the Jim Thorpe Invite at 2 p.m. Friday.
