No. 11 Penn State’s Steph Lazo scored an overtime goal to send her team to a 14-13 victory over No. 2 Florida on Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament Second Round game.
The Nittany Lions will host the next round of the tournament, the NCAA Quarterfinals, in State College and face the No. 7-ranked Penn Quakers at noon on Saturday.
Katie O’Donnell had a game-high five goals while Madison Cyr had six points on four goals and two assists.
The game was a back-and-forth affair that saw 11 lead changes and 10 ties. Neither team ever had more than a two-goal advantage throughout.

Penn State had a 13-12 lead with 18:11 left in the second half, as Jenna Mosketti’s equalizer with 11:21 to play would ultimately be the final goal of regulation. Florida stalled the ball in the final 6:30 for the last shot, but Emi Smith saved it.
Lazo then scored in the first 15 seconds of the second half of overtime to end the game.
