Three Penn State staffers have been promoted to assistant athletic directors.
In a release on Monday, Athletic Director Sandy Barbour announced the move. The three new assistant ADs are Herb Combs, Ken Cutler and Nikki Potoczny.
Combs was an athletic fields supervisor. His new title puts him in charge of outdoor athletic facilities.
The other two new positions are about money. Cutler was the director of development for major gifts. He will now be assistant AD of that giving area. Potoczny was director of the Nittany Lion Club. She is now assistant AD for the Annual Fund.
According to Penn State, all three will join the Intercollegiate Athletics management team.
Only Combs is a Penn State grad. He is one of only 206 certified sports field managers in the world.
Cutler is a Queens College grad with a master’s in sports administration from Ohio State. He has spent two decades in development at Penn State, participating in both the “Success with Honor” and “For the Future” multiyear fundraising campaigns that raised billions through donations from alumni, faculty, students and supporters.
Potoczny is a State College native who graduated from Ithaca College. As director of the Nittany Lion Club, she helped the group raise $16.6 million in 2014-15, according to the university. The club, which comprises alumni and supporters, makes grants to Penn State student-athletes.
