Former Penn State athlete advances to finals at Olympic Trials

Penn State graduate Bridget Franek qualified for the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase finals with her performance Monday night in the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.

Franek, who competed in the Olympics in 2012, recorded a time of 9:39.93 to win her heat and qualify for Thursday night’s finals.

Isaiah Harris, who is coming off his freshman season at Penn State, finished sixth in the men’s 800-meter finals with a time of 1:46.47. Former Penn State athlete Casimir Loxsom finished ninth (1:49.18) in the 800.
