ESPN’s Mike Rooney named speaker for First Pitch Dinner

Penn State announced on Tuesday that ESPN college baseball analyst Mike Rooney will be the keynote speaker at the Nittany Lions’ First Pitch Dinner.

Rooney, who is a Philadelphia native, coached Malvern Prep and then moved to the collegiate ranks with Arizona State. While there, he coached current Boston Red Sox Dustin Pedroia. He’s been an analyst for ESPN since 2009.

The event will be held Jan. 20 at the Penn Stater Conference Center and will include dinner, a silent auction, introduction of the 2017 team and Rooney’s address.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the cost is $60 per person for adults and $30 for children ages 3 to 12.
