Penn State baseball: Nittany Lions drop seventh straight to open season
Penn State lost its seventh straight game to start the season, falling 2-0 to Charleston Southern on Friday.
Charleston Southern’s Andrew Tomasovich recorded seven strikeouts in seven shutout innings to earn the win. Austin Weekly pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief to earn the save. Nick Hedge allowed two runs in seven innings in the loss for the Nittany Lions.
The Buccaneers (6-4) took a 2-0 lead through two innings. Penn State loaded the bases with no outs in both the sixth and ninth innings, but the Nittany Lions couldn’t break through.
The teams continue their three-game series Saturday at 4 p.m.
