Penn State managed just three hits in a 3-0 loss to No. 7 South Carolina on Tuesday.
Gamecocks starting pitcher Josh Reagan allowed one hit in 6 2/3 innings to earn the win. Reagan also struck out four and walked three. Brandon Murray and Cody Mincey combined for 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, with Mincey picking up the save.
Penn State’s Geoff Boylston took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) in six innings. Boylston recorded seven strikeouts and one walk.
Taylor Skerpon, Aaron Novak and J.J. White accounted for the Nittany Lions’ three hits.
