Thanks to registering nine straight strikeouts over two appearances, Penn State’s Sal Biasi was named Big Ten Baseball Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday.
The right-hander struck out the side in an inning of work last Wednesday in the Nittany Lions’ home opener against Canisius. Against No. 21 Indiana on Sunday, the reliever entered with the game tied in the eighth inning with a runner on third base, and struck out a Hoosier to end the threat and the next five he faced on his way to work into the 11th inning without allowing a run.
Biasi shared the weekly freshman honor with Milo Freeman of Rutgers.
Penn State hosts Villanova on Wednesday.
